The name that appears at the top of your screen when you first open your app is your Google Play Games gamer name, which is a unique username linked to your Google Account. This lets you earn Achievements and participate in the Google Play Leaderboards.
To edit your gamer name and/ or avatar:
- Open your Google Play Games app
- Tap Profile
- To change the gamer name, tap the gamer name to edit then tap Save
- To change the image, tap the avatar then edit
and choose one of the available images then tap Save
